In this incident, on February 2nd, 20201 Team Pro-Enviro worked with Team Pro-Tow to help with an emergency dispatch. The rescue involved an overturned tractor and trailer with broken bottles that needed a spill recovery. The casualty needed towing, and the rest involved spill recovery work. We dispatched a heavy-duty rotating crane-style wrecker, heavy-duty recovery wrecker, equipment support vehicle, and any additional labor as needed.
The accident happened on a heavy traffic ramp, so we waited for Washington State Police to close the ramp. Pro-Tow handled the calculations and recovery plan for the vehicle while Pro-Enviro started on the spill. Since glass bottles were involved in the accident, any further spills would become a serious safety risk for any other drivers. Safe rigging, planning, and finally execution resulted in the casualty safely lifted and moved to a nearby safe location.
Then, Team Pro-Enviro got to work. We started by tackling the spill response and took care of the debris cleanup. We had more than just wine to tackle, as our team worked diligently to clean up the oils, fuels, and other motor vehicle fluids. Safety for our team and others is always a forefront priority for us, so we didn’t leave until the roads were completely clear and safe.
We still needed a bit of spill containment measurements for the tractor back at the secured storage location. Excess motor fluids were leaking due to the damage from the accident, so we got to work––again.
We installed an environmental spill containment pond and then parked the tractor onto it to contain any spills. Our team reconditioned all the equipment and prepared for the next call. Once we handled all the required paperwork and filled it out, we gave the cleared spill cleanup call.
Another team effort across our Pro-Enviro and Pro-Tow divisions skillfully handled and finished!
