2022-08-09: Camper and Truck Fire Recovery in Issaquah

In this incident, on February 9, 2022, a camper on a pickup truck caught fire near Issaquah, resulting in both the camper and the truck catching fire. The fire damage was extensive. Additionally, it required detailed cleanup for the damaged vehicle and the surrounding area. Team Pro-Enviro and Team Pro-Tow arrived to clean up and recover the scene.

Truck Fire Recovery

Once we arrived at the accident, we started by doing a scene assessment about the best way to begin the recovery and road cleanup. We decided that a two-part cleanup approach was the best way to start.

Pro-Enviro began with some cleanup while Pro-Tow operators got to work on rigging the truck and preparing it to haul away. Once it was ready, they loaded it up and removed the casualty from the scene. We moved in and cleared the remaining debris using a bobcat to load the debris onto a flatbed trailer carefully. We also applied a tarp and strapped it down to avoid anything flying around.

Road Cleanup

With the bulk of the accident cleared, Team Pro-Enviro went to work on the roadway cleanup. We gathered the remaining debris and completely cleared the road. Even small bits can cause trouble for other drivers and the environment, so we always thoroughly check. After we completed the road cleanup, we brought our equipment back, reconditioned it for the next job, and closed the call on this truck fire recovery.

Camper and Trailer Safety in Issaquah

While we don’t know how this camper caught fire, there are ways to avoid a fire. While on the road, ensure you don’t have propane appliances like the fridge running. Checking for dragging brakes, loose electrical connections, leaking engine fluids or overheating tires is also vital. Any of these issues can lead to a fire sparking in your RV, causing severe damage and a dangerous situation.
