Transport cargo can weigh tens of thousands of pounds. Unfortunately, a significant cause of load shifts is imbalanced or improper loading. A heavy imbalanced load will throw off the trailer’s center of gravity, causing it to tip, jack-knife, blow tires, or cause other semi-truck accidents.
As a truck driver, driving around with heavy loads involves much more than experienced driving. While safe speeds and slow turns are critical, sometimes a load shift can happen and cause serious troubles.
Happy New Year! Our team at Pro-Enviro would like to thank you for your business in 2022, and we look forward to serving you this year.
On Sept. 28, 2018, Team Pro-Enviro was called to help after a semi-truck carrying agricultural tires lost its load. The tires slipped off the semi-trailer on Northbound Interstate 5 in Kent, WA. Team Pro-Enviro responded quickly with a Century heavy-duty tow rotating boom truck to help with the load shift service.
A shifting load can cause an accident, delay, and requiring a load shift service means expensive downtime. Improper loading is the leading cause of a load shift. There are a few key things to avoid when loading your trailers or flatbeds. Preventing load shifts keeps drivers safe, trucks on the road and customers happy. It’s worth taking the extra time to ensure your cargo is loaded correctly.
In this incident, on August 20, 2020, Team Pro-Enviro was called in to help a logistics company that had become stranded in the middle of Washington State. Without anyone nearby to help, the truck was trapped with its 50,000 pounds of paper rolls. What they needed was a cross-load of their cargo to ensure it reached its destination. Luckily, we were brought in to help with our load service. With our trusty professionals and experience solving difficult situations, we figured it out.
