In this incident, on December 26, 2021, Team Pro-Enviro received a call from Washington State Patrol about a trailer involved in a fire. The trailer was part of a second trailer in a set of doubles and needed a vehicle fire recovery. We selected the necessary equipment for the rescue and immediately set out.
Extensive Trailer Fire Recovery
We set out for the scene with our heavy-duty wrecker but took care to drive slowly as the road conditions were icy. We didn’t want to get into another accident and have someone come to rescue us!
Once we arrived at the scene, we began by doing an assessment. Because of the damage caused by the fire, we decided we would need to turn the dolly around for safe towing.
Unfortunately, the tires of the vehicle were burnt up and extremely damaged in the fire. Seeing that we needed more help, we called for additional support with the trailer fire recovery and cleanup required afterwards. Along with the damaged trailer, debris was all over the road and needed extensive cleanup.
Extra Hands Required!
Once our additional support arrived, we set to work on the vehicle fire recovery. First, we hooked up the front of the trailer and maneuvered the dolly around. With that handled, we secured the dollies and towed the trailer using the ICC bumper from the scene. Finally, now that the scene was clear, Team Pro-Enviro set to work on the cleanup.
We gathered up the debris from the road and cleared it away. We made sure nothing was left on the roadside after the vehicle fire recovery before heading back to the storage yard.
We once again drove slowly due to the icy road conditions. Unfortunately, we could only take the casualty as far as the storage yard due to dangerous road conditions. Once there, we dropped off the trailer and reconditioned our equipment, so it was ready for the next call.
